No new business is without start up issues or problems but Delve have put in the work and created an inspiring and creative menu which mirrors Diggle lock with its own individual spin. The service is always friendly, (my mum and dad are regulars) and they make the best Flat Whites in the area. The price of the menu reflects the fact it's a new business in a relatively small village (which already consists of four pubs, three of which serve food), its lovely to see something different. I have ordered the breakfast and cajun and maple chicken which have been absolutely fantastic. As a new business you won't be everyone's cup of tea, or coffee? However, if you're passing through the village on a walk or simply after something tasty then don't hesitate to pop in, 11/10. ”

“ This is a great place to visit for a relaxing food and drink experience. I had the Seabass which was perfectly cooked. My friend had a Scotch Egg which she said was the best Scotch Egg she had ever had. This bar and restaurant is based in an old bank with many of the original features being retained. An excellent place with an excellent team, who definitely give excellent service and high-quality food. Will be a regular visitor. ”

“ I have been frequenting Delve for takeout coffee since it opened. Serving Darkwoods Coffee, it comes in with a note of familiarity as multiple coffee houses in the district seem to be turning to the brand, however that doesn't take away from the fact Delve offer an expertly made Latte that runs the right temperature, flavour and texture. Last Saturday was our first time there for food, with it being a sister-business to Diggle Lock, hopes and expectations were high. We were seated quickly upon arriving and our drinks order was taken. Two artsy Lattes arrived shortly after, sporting foam art in pretty cups - a good start. I would argue Delve make a better brew than I've ever had at Diggle Lock, so that's a star already. Food time - I ordered an Eggs Benedict with chorizo and my partner ordered a side of hash browns and avocado & egg on toast. Coming in all together with 3 coffees at just over £30, I'd say we got solid value for money. My Eggs Benedict was creamy and the chorizo had a tender texture whilst being packed with smokey, peppery flavour. Sourdough toast finished off the two perfectly poached eggs well, thickly cut so (unlike other places) when toasted it wasn't rock hard! Another win. After eating it, I do wish I'd gone with bacon as the chorizo flavour overpowered whatever flavours were in the hollandaise, but you live and learn. All in all, I'd order it again without hesitation. My partner had the avo and egg, unfortunately here was a slight miscommunication during ordering which resulted in her not getting it as the order got mixed up. This was rectified super quickly by the server however who took responsibility, despite it probably being partly my confusing order of ordering as well. Avo and Egg looked a sight, two perfectly poached eggs with runny yolks atop sourdough, dusted with various seeds and on a bed of smashed avocado. It looked the business. The hash brown side cost £4 and wasn't on the menu to order, we had to enquire, however this resulted in two, golden and thick cuboids (I can't think of another way to describe them) of hash brown, crispy on the outside and soft, almost flakey internally. They were fantastic, finished with some salt. All in all, we will definitely be returning to Delve, and as a local, this is a dangerous thing! It does the Diggle Lock heritage justice whilst carving out it's own identity. My only criticism, and this is personal preference, is the venue itself. It does feel a bit cold (or at least did on our visit in February this year) and aesthetically it just doesn't mesh for me. I like a cosy, comfy, warm venue for brunch which at present, Delve doesn't look like it'll be. But that doesn't take away from the amazing staff, coffee and food behind its doors. If you're in Delph, you're looking at one of the best brews and possibly the best food. Don't sleep on it. ”

“ We went on a Saturday afternoon for an early evening meal. The small plates were delicious. You can tell everything was made fresh and was of good quality. The scotch egg was our favourite but we loved the manchego croquette special too. It was similar food to the highly rated Cafe Continental in Stalybridge but perhaps a bit better. Service was excellent. Atmosphere great. Definitely recommended. We will be back. ”
